Nike art gallery

I found the place by chance driving in Lekki with my sister. She loves art, I love african art more so when we saw the sign 'turn right to Nike Art gallery' we turned right. 

The place is a real 'treasure' if you love african art. The curator, Nike Davies-Okundaye showed us round the gallery, telling us the story behind almost every oil painting and indigo print fabric made by women in Oshogbo. 

She has the most amazing collection of oil paintings from the artist Rom Ishichei www.romisichei.com, which if i wasn't a student and financially-challenged, I would have bought at least one from.

One of my favorite places is the Delano Hotel in Miami. It is the epitome of edgy and cool with a double shake of sexiness. Phillipe Starke did the interiors, which I think i just too amazing for words.

Eko Atlantic

When I first heard about this, I was a bit skeptical because I thought it was another 'government project', a.k.a invisible money spinner, but its not(at least at the time of going to press) 

 

The Eko Atlantic project is ambitious and if completed will be commendable, but let's not forget other parts of Lagos that need help Gov. Fashola.  We can't continue creating new islands(think: Lekki, Banana Island, Park View etc) to solve our problems and abandoning other places, that are actually built on rocks not water  (think: Isale Eko, Surulere, Apapa, Mushin etc) 

All efforts should not be geared towards attracting the almighty 'oil companies and so-called multinationals', but should be towards providing basic amenities like clean water and better housing for the masses.  

I'm sure it would have been cheaper to redevelop land like this than creating a new island.
